Located in the heart of Halifax’s historic waterfront, there’s no better place to get immersed in Nova Scotia’s rich maritime heritage than the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. Visit Canada's largest and oldest maritime museum and discover the stories, people and events that shape this province and its connections with the sea.
Collect and interpret various elements of Nova Scotia’s marine history – from small craft and boatbuilding to World War convoys; the Days of Sail to the Age of Steam; Titanic to the 1917 Halifax Harbour Explosion. On the museum's wharf, you'll find CSS Acadia, Canada’s longest-serving hydrographic vessel that survived both World Wars and the 1917 explosion.
See the exhibit, Ta'n me'j Tel'keknuo'ltiek: How Unique We Still Are, which reflects and shares experiences of how Mi’kmaw people remain connected to the lands and waters of this place, known as Mi’kma’ki.
