Butchart Gardens is visited by more than a million people each year. Take your time to stroll through 22 hectares of breathtaking gardens on this 53-hectare estate. Still privately owned and operated by the Butchart family. Beginning in 1977, great-grandson Christopher began producing a choreographed firework show every year. In 2009, his sister, and current owner of The Gardens, Robin added the Children’s Pavilion and Menagerie Carousel. Designated a National Historic Site of Canada, in 2004 for its one-hundredth birthday. Our favourite time to visit is in the fall when the Japanese maples turn to russet, gold, and red, but it’s superb in every season.
