Leave Great Falls behind today and drive along the scenic byway that leads to Glacier National Park, 'The Crown Jewel of the Continent'. Known for seemingly endless acres of rugged and breathtaking landscapes, Glacier National Park was established in 1910 and stands today as a monument to wild, natural places. Must-dos include a ride on the historic Red Jammer vintage buses, a cruise on Swiftcurrent Lake and a scenic drive along the Going-to-the-Sun-Road.

On your drive south, you'll cruise in the shadow of the impressive Mission Mountain Range and and hug the shores of beautiful Flathead Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi. It's a short scenic drive south today from Yellowstone to Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park.

Full of valleys, lakes, rivers, forest and wildlife, this park also has a rich cultural history with old homesteads and cattle ranches. Be sure to take a cruise on Jenny Lake and also ride up a short trail that leads past Hidden Falls to Inspiration Point, where you'll enjoy unsurpassed views of the Grand Tetons.
In the evening in Jackson head for the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar in Jackson Town Square, or go shopping for western gear and gifts in the little boutiques. Today is all about the drive as you head north back into Yellowstone and journey through the heart of the park before heading east along one of the USA's most scenic and dramatic drives - The Beartooth Highway. This 68 mile highway has been dubbed 'The Most Beautiful Road in America' and is a series of switchback turns that climb to an astounding elevation of 10,947 feet. You'll encounter terrain from lush pine forests to alpine tundra along the way and at the summit you'll find yourself in a sky-high world of glacial cirques, crystal clear alpine lakes and snow that lingers through the summer months. Your overnight is in the charming western town of Red Lodge.

This afternoon you may want to consider a drive to the Little Big Horn Battlefield. This area memorialises the U.S. Army's 7th Cavalry and the Sioux and Cheyenne in one of the Indian's last armed efforts to preserve their way of life. Here on June 25 and 26 of 1876, 263 soldiers, including Lt. Col. George A. Custer and attached personnel of the U.S. Army, died fighting several thousand Lakota, and Cheyenne warriors.
