Arrive in cosmopolitan Vancouver early evening in time for a stroll along the lively waterfront. You've two days to enjoy the city and surrounds. You may wish to hop on the Vancouver trolley service which stops at all the must-see attractions including Gastown, English Bay, Stanley Park and Granville Island. Fancy a jaunt over to historic Victoria on Vancouver Island and the world-famous Butchart Gardens? This can be arranged for you. |
You'll transfer from your hotel to Vancouver Station for a 7.30am boarding of the Rocky Mountaineer train.
Onboard, you'll travel in extreme comfort to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. As you dine on gourmet cuisine and sip fine wines, you'll witness the dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley to the desert-like environment of the BC Interior. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River.
Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer travels along the shores of Kamloops Lake and arrives into town typically between 6pm - 7pm.

It's another 7.30am rail departure from Kamloops station and you'll be collected from your hotel for the transfer.
Enjoy a tasty breakfast and lunch onboard as your journey continues north and east to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Once again you will be surrounded by dramatic scenery as you follow the banks of the North Thompson River through the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains, climbing ever nearer to the high peaks of the Continental Divide. The remarkable thing about this route is just when you think the scenery can't get any better - it does.
Today’s highlights include Mount Robson, at 12,972 feet the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, Pyramid Falls and the climb over the Yellowhead Pass into Jasper National Park. The rail adventure part of your guided tour comes to an end this evening between 7:30pm and 9:00pm in the pretty mountain town of Jasper.
The following day, you'll have plenty of time to discover Jasper National Park further. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the Canadian Rockies’ largest National Park and home to some staggeringly beautiful scenery. A scenic half-day guided tour of some of the park’s natural attractions and rugged peaks is included and if you're lucky you'll also get a glimpse of the various wildlife that call this park home. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore Jasper at your own pace.
Travel to Canada's oldest national park, Banff, via one of the most truly scenic highways in the world, the Icefields Parkway. Stop at Athabasca Falls before arriving at the Columbia Icefield for a ride on an Ice Explorer to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier. Your driver/guide will explain how glaciers are formed and point out some interesting geological features. There will be time available for lunch on your own before heading off for a quick stop at pretty Bow Lake. Mid-afternoon arrive in legendary Lake Louise, your lakeside home for the next two nights.
The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is surrounded by towering mountain peaks, the majestic Victoria Glacier and, of course, that world-famous emerald lake. With two nights here, you've a full free day to explore at leisure. Take a gentle trail around the lake, enjoy a leisurely canoe trip, or simply relax along the shore and soak in the impressive scenery.
It's a leisurely morning today as your tour doesn't depart until after lunch.
Explore the natural wonders of Yoho National Park and its famed Spiral Tunnels with time to stretch your legs and stroll around Emerald Lake, before you arrive into the picturesque town of Banff late afternoon. The following day is yours at leisure to explore Banff. Perhaps, take a guided walk with a local naturalist, head for the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel for a traditional high tea, or take a gentle cruise on Lake Minnewanka.
Your day kicks off with a sightseeing tour Banff with visits to Bow Falls, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos. A highlight is sure to be a ride on the Banff Gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain and sweeping views of the Rocky Mountains. Your tour ends on arrival in Calgary late this afternoon.

You'll have free time this morning for some last minute souvenir shopping in the western boutiques along lively Stephen Avenue Walk before departing for Calgary airport and your flight home.
